How many people make up the Arizona Veterinary Medical Board? ›

The Arizona State Veterinary Medical Examining Board has nine members that are appointed by the Governor and serve a term of 4 years.

Since it covers so much material, the NAVLE is a challenge for even the best vet students. “It is, without a doubt, the most difficult test a veterinarian will ever have to take,” Dr. Singleton says.

The national exam is taken in order to become a licensed veterinary technician or RVT. It is administered by the AAVSB. There is no separate California exam. **The average pass rate for the same testing window for all first time candidates at all schools was 64%.

Regular License:

Applicant is a graduate from a college of veterinary medicine accredited by the AVMA or holds a certificate issued by the ECFVG or PAVE and has taken the NAVLE within the past 5 years. Passing the State Veterinary Exam is required. Application fee: $400.

Veterinary technicians are left to manage difficult and emotional situations with clients because of their animals' condition. It can become hard to practice self-care basics without having the foundation of practicing stress management to care for their emotional health and overall wellbeing.

Before you take the exam, you must also submit an application to the AASVB. Remember, approximately one-third of the people who take the VTNE^® exam do not pass. Use VTNE practice questions and VTNE^® practice exams to ensure that you are among the two-thirds who do pass.

The Board also reviews complaints made against licensees, conducts investigations and resolves complaints. The Board consists of nine members, appointed by the Governor to four-year terms. In Arizona, vet techs are certified, so upon earning the credential, you'd be considered a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT). To become a CVT in Arizona, you need to graduate from an AVMA-accredited vet tech program, pass the VTNE, and submit an application to the Arizona Veterinary Medical Board.

Historically, the pass rate on the NAVLE among graduates of AVMA COE–accredited veterinary medical schools has averaged over 90%.
